Mr.Laer: An Extraordinary Runner of Great Wall of China Marathon

For the runners who have run and who will run the Great Wall of
China Marathon,
everyone is extraordinary. Today we introduce Mr.Dirk Van Laer.

Mr.Laer is 63 and he inspired already many young people to think out
of the box and go for something extraordinary.
Last year, he was registered already for the Northcape4000, but
because of covid, he couldn't travel to Europe. So, he did plan B, a
3600km unsupported bicycle ride trough the north of China, 3600km,
26.000 meter elevation in 18 days. Until Harbin with a friend, from
Harbin back to Dalian all alone. You can find some posts of this
trip on his Facebook account or on Strava. Look for Dirk Van Laer
Mr.Laer has a Belgium coach and his coach asked him to start running
as cross-training for the bike riding. So, last year februari, he
started running as well. Honestly spoken, he never did running
before. A world opened for him, very fast I did 5k, afterwards 10k
to 15k. The half marathon is planned for February.
So full marathon in May is a logical step,he thinks. And the Great
wall marathon with climbing stairs will be for afterwards. He does a
lot of hiking/running combination on the hills in Dalian, many
stairs... A perfect place for training for the Great wall marathon.

everyone is extraordinary.We have not been able to introduce many
more,even for the
runners who have run the Great Wall of China Marathon in 2020 and
2021 and the runners who run
before 2020! Come and run together with all the extraordinary
runners in 2022,either on May 1st or October 30!
As many people around the world today, Mr.Laer believes 2022 will be
a great year,come and run the Great Wall of China Marathon on
October 30,2022 in Beijing,
